Life Is Too Short I Don’t Have Time For This Mess

Time is short

Life Is Short Make It Count!

The phrase “Life is too short” would be one of the mantras of life that I live by. I only have so many hours per day, days per week and weeks per month to live my life. I have been given just enough to fulfill the purpose for which I was placed on this earth. So why do I from time to time waste so much of it on other people’s problems and issues?

  • Why do I allow other people’s problems to become mine?
  • Why do I take up their offense?
  • Why do I spend time worrying about what they think about me?
  • Why do I at times lose sleep over their lack of understanding of me?
  • Why do I try to make changes just to please them?
  • Why do I become depressed over their judgment or view of me?

Why do I do all the above knowing that life is so short and I only have a few years to live; just enough to live my own life, which some times I think I don’t have enough especially as I get older?

I am reading a book that is entitled 20,000 Days and Counting by Robert Smith, which is really an eye opener. In this book he calculates how many days he had left to live as per life’s expectancy – productive years – and he realizes from this experiment, he needs to make each day count. Each day that goes by it is one that we cannot get back. It’s spent. It’s gone.

So, why not spend each day:

  • Focusing on how to improve yourself?
  • Helping others?
  • Make a difference for someone else in a positive way?
  • Thinking and and working on leaving a legacy?

Doing it this way keeps you from envying others, being bothered by their understanding of you or what they think of you.

If we don’t, we might find our health being affected not by what we eat but by what eats us. The psalmist said it best: The more I thought about it, the hotter I got, igniting a fire of words: “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is. (Psalms 39:3, 4 NLT)

Make a commitment to:

  1. Spend your days focusing on finding ways of leaving a legacy.
  2. Bring value to the lives of others.
  3. Plug your ears, put on blinders, and put one foot before the other.

Life is too short. Make it count today.
