Super-sizing Is Not Just For Fast Food Chains

Shoe doesnt fitThere are some people who either do not know that the clothes they are wearing are much too small or they just do not care. Maybe it is intentional for some so that they can reveal what they are convinced others need to see while for others they may not be aware of it. The latter I have a hard time believing.

Suffice it to say, clothing isn’t the only area that the phrase too small is used. We could easily compile a list that could be pages long. Here are a few that come to mind right away. These are in no set order.

  1. You know your circle is too small when you are the smartest person in the group
  2. Your bed is too small when you have to sleep at an angle just to fit on the bed
  3. Your shoe is too small when you have to cut holes in the front so that your feet can fit inside
  4. Your vision or dream is too small

You get the idea. Some of those I made up myself. I won’t say which ones. I’ll let you guess. You shouldn’t have a hard time with that. Let me know if you think you know which ones I made up. Good luck.

The point is, there comes a time when we need to realize that some things are just too small.

I went through that in the area of my vision. I did not have a large enough vision. Even if I wanted to, I really didn’t know how to go about thinking larger. I didn’t have the kind of mentors that could help me then. Most importantly, my circle was too small. I had the same people in my circle for far too long. They could not take me any higher than I was with them.

John Maxwell talks about this in one of his books — he calls it “The Law of The Lid.” You cannot go higher than where the lid stops. The lid of my circle seemed to have stopped with me or with someone who was on par with me. I had to change circle, which I did. I still kept my circle but sought out and linked up with new circles. What a difference that has made.

This also happened to the group of prophets under Elisha.

One day the group of prophets came to Elisha and told him, “As you can see, this place where we meet with you is too small. Let’s go down to the Jordan River, where there are plenty of logs. There we can build a new place for us to meet.” “All right,” he told them, “go ahead.” (2 Kings 6:1, 2 NLT)

The main key for this shift to occur is awareness. Be aware of your “too small” and make the necessary changes. Super Size It!

What is it in your life that needs to be super sized? Please leave your thoughts on this blog in the comment section below. I would love to hear from you.
