CYBLN 042: Why Gaining Financial Freedom Through Self-Employment Is A Viable Option

Gaining Financial Freedom through self employment is something that a great number of people want to do but do not know how or where to start. [Interview]

Financial freedom through self employmentThis can be frustrating to say the least. I know it, because I have been there and am currently in the process of learning and moving in that direction. You can join me in this journey so that we can learn together.

Feature Segment:  Why Gaining Financial Freedom Through Self Employment Is A Viable Option

In this episode, you will hear Kevin Miller share how you can look at self-employment from a different perspective; one that you might not have considerd. He focuses on how you might feel called to do something else other than what you are currently doing and what you need to do about it. He sees himself as the Evangelist for self-employment and just a regular guy.

3 Questions Kevin answers on Why Gaining Freedom Through Self Employment Is A Viable Option:

  1. How do you create a compelling reason to pursue what you love to do?
  2. How do you safely ditch your job and follow your dream?
  3. What gives you the right to do something different; escape the norm?

Tip Of The Week

The tip of the week has to do with taking action. Here’s the tip: [Tweet “We all may have our demons, but we need to evict them. They are squatters ~ Kingsley Grant”]

Brief Bio on Kevin Miller:Kevin Miller shares Financial Freedom on the side

Kevin sees himself as a very average guy with two mortgages (couldn’t sell our previous house!), a wife (married 20 years), 7 kids (ages 3-18), too many bills, too many responsibilities and a lot of self-doubt. I’m no globe trotting thrill seeker. But I hate being confined. I fight hard to be free, alive, inspired and fully engaged to live out the values and priorities I believe in for my life and my family.

For the past five years I’ve devoted myself to helping others who want freedom from the confines of traditional employment and the grind, and have discovered the primary roadblocks that keep people who could absolutely succeed in generating their own income…from doing so.You don’t have to be a certain kind of person. You just need a certain type of equipping.

3 Questions that keeps you stuck:

1. Who am I to do something different?

2. Why do I feel called to do something different?

3. What should my responsibilities be?

Some highlights from this interview:

  • Wrap work around what’s important to you and not the other way around
  • It’s very difficult to jeopardize what you have going and that which you are comfortably doing, but it may not be that you have to ditch your job outright, but it might be taking small steps along the way.
  • It sounds risky to say I’m going to quit my job but if I can say I’m going to find a way to generate some income on the side, it sounds less riskier and would probably garnish more support from family and friends
  • It’s a significantly smaller jump to make when you are doing something on the side
  • What makes the option of staying where you are so strong is because there’s no urgency at the moment; you don’t have to make changes. Your life can still continue as it is and you can still be okay.
  • What kind of life is it just to go to work without doing the things you were called to do and that you would rather enjoy doing?

These are just a few of the highlighted thoughts that Kevin shared in this episode.

15% or less make up the group of self employed, yet 85% of today’s millionaires come from that small percentage.
