August 22, 2013

Podcast, Self Help

Money AttitudeSUMMARY:

In this episode I talk about the role money plays in all of our lives and how each person’s view of money can be so different. This difference can be the deal breaker in many relationships. Your understanding of it, can make all the difference.

The four ways to think about money are referred to as money orientation or attitudes.

  1. Attitude #1:  Money as Status – this person displays their view of money through the way they dress, the car they drive, the home they live in and the places they go.
  2. Attitude #2: Money as Security – this person is the conservative type. They save and save and save for what they deem as a rainy day. However when that rainy day comes they still do not spend money on that day.
  3. Attitude #3: Money as Enjoyment – this person wants to enjoy life. They get satisfaction from spending on others and on themselves. This brings them joy.
  4. Attitude #4: Money as Control – this person wants to hold onto this part of their lives. It makes them feel independent, which they don’t want to give up. It’s a power grab.

Which of these four attitudes did you relate to and why? Take a few minutes now and leave a comment in the box below.
